The public gallery broke into a traditional Maori love song after the announcement that the same-sex marriage bill had passed for New Zealand.
Excuse me while I go cry
Yep, tears are streaming. Also for anyone who is interested, I believe the song is “Pokarekare Ana.”

so here’s a real thing that happened…bill murray hijacked my friends’ bridal portraits downtown the other day. she took pictures with him and invited him to the wedding.
he also asked her to marry him.
Heard about this from a friend of mine! She was taking portraits of Bill that day. What an awesome story :)
Giant leopard moth, spotted on my daily walk home. I want a piece of clothing with this pattern on it. Hop to it, Marimekko!
Creeper doodle pattern!
On another note, I think I’ll use Tumblr again. Not as my official blogging platform, but just to follow the large number of illustrators that are on here. I guess my content here will be a wordless version of my blog, ha.
Trying to dump here 2 things that have been dogging me for about a week: bright colors and semi-nautical dreams. Beware retinal burnout. “Drawn” with black watercolor (thick-ish), photogged (because the family scanner is sad), and then tinkered around with in Photoshop. Some color overlays and obviously the Difference Cloud filter were involved.
Mykl and I finally got around to photographing the SAAH brochure/folder/poster we designed with our friend Alexis. Our design program just sprung for a MyStudio lightbox, which makes photographing work a lot easier.
Yesterday was my one-year veggieversary! I have been vegetarian for a year, and what a wonderful and tasty year it has been. If you’re bored with your food, try going veg for a week; the need to combine foods for optimal health (for example, you need Vitamin C in the same meal to absorb plant-based iron effectively) can lead to creative combinations.
One of my favorite collections of recipes: the vegetarian category of Everybody Likes Sandwiches
